There are a wide variety of things around us. Everything we see is different from one another. Car, books, birds, etc., are some things present in the world.
The things in the world are of two categories depending on their characteristics.
Living things
Non-living things
Living things
The things in our world that are alive are live things, and all living things are made up of cells. A few examples of living things include human beings, birds, animals, etc.
Some traits of living things are as follows.
Living things reproduce and undergo evolution.
They undergo waste excretion.
They respire, grow and move on their own.
They require nutrition to gain energy and to survive.
They can respond to their surrounding environment and adapt to their living surroundings.
Living things depend on other things like food, water, and air for their survival.
They can sense things happening around them.
Non-living things
The things that are not alive are known as non-living things. A few examples of non-living things include chairs, tables, laptops, etc.
Some traits of the non-living things are as follows.
Do not reproduce or grow.
The non-living things cannot sense things around them.
They do not have any lifespan or depend on other things for their survival.
They do not undergo any metabolic changes.
No evolution takes place among non-living things.
